‘Chakra’ is a Sanskrit word that means ‘wheel’ and refers to the many energy wheels we have throughout our body. Seven of these are major chakras, aligning along the spine from the base to the crown. Each one is made up of organs, nerves and a powerful connection to the less tangible psychological, emotional and spiritual states of being.
Keeping our chakras open and our energy flowing is fundamental to our wellbeing, physical as well as psychological, emotional and spiritual. When we fall ill, it is likely that one or more of our chakras is, or becomes, blocked, whether directly through physical trauma, or through more esoteric problems that then manifest physically.
The first Chakra (Muladhara) is our base chakra, and represents stability and security.
The second (Svadhisthana) is our sexual chakra, located above the pubic bone, and in charge of our creativity and sexual energy.
The third (Manipura) is in our core and holds the source of our personal power.
The fourth and middle chakra (Anahata), is the heart chakra, the source of love and connection, in particular between the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
The fifth (Vishuddha) is the throat chakra and represents our verbal communication and truth.
The sixth (Ajna) is at the third eye and holds our intuition.
The seventh (Sahaswara) is the thousand petal lotus at the crown of the head and leads to enlightenment and spiritual connection to ourselves and others.
At Fivelements our Chakra Balancing treatment is performed by one of our wonderful Balinese healers, Pak Tirka, our Kundalini master. After moving into a meditative state of mind he will tap into his intuition to ‘scan’ the body and identify energy blockages that correspond to the chakras. In order to reinstate flow, he helps to break down these blockages by placing his hands on or over the body. Using his own energy he heals the body physically through the warmth of his hands, mentally through using symbols, emotionally through love and energetically through his power.
When reactivated and balanced, chakras allow energy to flow freely again. While immediately following the treatment you’re likely to feel relaxed and light, you may feel emotional. This is because the treatment opens you to increased levels of physical, mental and emotional health as well as increased powers of intuition.
The healers suggest women should avoid energy healing during menstruation, because they goes through a natural detoxification process that shouldn't be interfered with by other therapies. Expecting ladies are welcome to enjoy the treatment after their 12th week of pregnancy.
