    About Sacred Arts

‘Rasa’ or ‘essence’ is sacred arts offering designed to hold the space for exploration in creative movement expression. Set to world rhythms we open to connect to our inner landscapes of emotion, felt sense, physical sensation while connecting to others and the site and sonic archictecture and atmosphere of where we are.

About Peter Chin and Where? With All

Where? With All is a solo work by and performed by celebrated dance artist Peter Chin. It also features his music for traditional instrumentation from China, West Africa and Indonesia.

In this work Peter Chin contemplates the ephemeral nature of the creative act of dancing and music making, leading to ruminations of the lasting resonances that cannot be seen but are felt inter-dimensionally. The power of the transmission of the invisible is embodied and spun out in real time.

Chin will storytell, vocalize and dance in this beguiling solo that has been performed in North America South and South-East Asia.

    Peter Chin

Peter ChinPeter Chin, Jamaican-born, is a Phnom Penh and Toronto-based choreographer/dancer, composer/ musician, designer, director and artistic director of the interdisciplinary company Tribal Crackling Wind. His works have been presented across Canada, as well as in Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, India, Singapore, Holland, the UK, Jamaica, Mexico, Columbia and the United States. Numerous awards include six Dora Mavor Moore Awards in dance, the Muriel Sherrin Award for international achievement in dance, and a Gemini Award for “Best Performance in a performing arts program”.

In 2015, Chin premiered his newest work “Woven” in Toronto, with a cast from Cambodia, Indonesia, Mexico and Canada, which contemplated the interconnectivity of all things in the metaphor of traditional woven cloth found throughout the world. This piece then toured to Oaxaca Mexico in association with the Textile Museum of Oaxaca and the Ethnobotanical Garden of Oaxaca.

Upcoming is another international project that will take place in Phnom Penh Cambodia and then in Ontario Canada. It will be a sacred healing dance for 40 performers in urban public spaces that will include the most sought after classically trained dancers of Cambodia, with two Canadian indigenous performing arts groups, and exciting intergenerational performers from across Canada. Entitled Trillionth I, this piece will contemplate genocide, cultural loss and resilience, healing, through sacred dance and the connection to the invisible realm.
